3 Reasons Why Every Dad Needs a FLIP Camera - DadZillaTV Episode #2
April 30th, 2009
Just before my birthday this year I stumbled upon a nifty little gadget called Flip MinoHD Camcorder, 60 Minutes (Black) I’ve since been obsessed with this little gem. I also own a larger camcorder Sony DCR-DVD810 1MP DVD Hybrid Plus Handycam Camcorder with 8GB Memory & 25x Optical Zoom
But I have to say that the Flip has taken over video duties in the Dessi home.
Here are my top 3 reasons why you should get one:
1. Portability - Any parent can tell you that gone are the days when you were able to throw your cell phone in your pocket and run out the door. Now when you leave you need to bring diaper bags, snacks, change of clothes for baby, bottles, wipes, portable DVD players (more on that later), strollers etc. The LAST thing you need to worry about is carrying a camcorder. The flip cam is about the same size as a cell phone. In my case, I have a blackberry bold, and this baby is SMALLER!
2. Ease of use - all you have to do is hit one button, and you’re recording. Point at the baby and bam - you have a great video to ship off to family and friends.
3. Ease of sharing - What’s the use of filming your child if you never share it with anyone? Instead of having to convert a mini dvd, or digital tape to any sort of edited home movie (although I love doing this, it’s really REALLY Time consuming). With the flip all you do is plug it in and your computer will automatically pick it up and download your video. The quality is great and you can share with friends and family via Youtube.com
Here’s one of my favorites of Talia discovering the joys of splashing for the first time:

I’ve been wanting one of those for so long! I’m going to pass this article along to the wife and see if it’ll be enough to convince her to let me buy one. Right now I use a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5K and I can record 720p videos. I have an 8 GB flash card and it will hold quite a bit of video but I’m not sure if it’ll hold a full 60 minutes.
Cute video by the way - how old is your daughter? We have 2! One is 3 1/2 years old and the little one is 9 months.
